Customer Reviews: they seem to do the job August 20, 2010 lonebeaut (land of enchantment) I bought half green and half blue treads for the winding wooden stairs that lead to our bedroom. We have two big arthritic senior dogs who have some difficulty getting up the steps, so I bought the treads mostly for them.
Instead of using the enclosed tacks, which would not have penetrated our hard wood, we bought a couple rolls of two-sided carpet tape and used that to affix the treads. It's been about a week, and so far, so good. The only problem I have with the treads is that they do show the dirt easily (we live in a rural area, so there's lots of that). But that's a minor quibble. I think they'll do fine. They're not all shaped exactly alike, but then, neither are our stairs, so that wasn't a big deal either.
As for our dogs, they seem to have an easier time now using the stairs, but it's not a dramatic difference. However, I feel better knowing that it will be harder for them to slip and hurt themselves with the treads in place.
fits the need and performs well May 17, 2010 C. Charmaine Hensley (Oak Ridge, Tn United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The journey to find stair tread covers began as a result of an elderly dog needing help getting up the hard wood stairs. The local search was fruitless. We found these and they are perfect. The dimensions are a perfect fit. they are attractive in the oblong style and the rich color dresses the stairs up. Absolutely the solve the problem for the pet. They can be stapled down, be we do not see that they move when walked upon, and so we have elected not to permanently affix.
Pit Bull Proof April 6, 2010 Mary Swafford 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought a set of these for my daughter a year ago. She has hardwood floors, and when her pit bull went up and down the stairs, she'd slip around, and make noise! These work great, and a year later look pretty good, too, despite the high traffic area they're in
